Reading an image - media codes blog tasks

 


Technical- The image show 50 Cent by him self, isolated and independent. perhaps this is to show us that people who buy RBK are strong people who don't need other people. The lighting is dark and shadowy and there is a lot of focus on his shoulder scar which could make us think what has happened to him.

Written/verbal- The message on the poster seems to be positive as it is trying to ispire us to take action and enjoy our life today as tomorrow is not promised. He is probably saying this from experience of being so focused on the future that he lost track of the present and now is regretting it.

Symbolic- His facial expression is serious and determined. He is wearing what seems to be expensive jewellery which is a sing of wealth and success which is tremendously inspiring as we know he hadn't had the best childhood.

Narrative - the fingerprints beneath the writing offer us a narrative of a possible criminal background or gang violence.


Technical- The advertisement features a young, slim model wearing a bikini against a bright yellow background. The model is centrally placed, emphasizing her physique, while the text is prominently displayed above her. The use of vibrant colors and high contrast makes the image visually striking.

Written/verbal-The written component of the advertisement consists of the provocative question, "Are you beach body ready?" The question is straightforward and encourages the viewer to question their own body's readiness for the beach. It implies that achieving a particular body type is a prerequisite for going to the beach.

Symbolic- The choice of a young, slim, and conventionally attractive model in a bikini sends a clear visual message about what is considered an ideal or "beach-ready" body. This choice of model symbolizes the narrow beauty standards that the advertisement appears to promote.

Narrative- The narrative in this advertisement is simple but powerful. The question, "Are you beach body ready?" suggests a narrative that reinforces the idea that one's body must meet certain standards to be deemed acceptable or "ready" for a beach outing. It creates a image in the viewer's mind that involves striving for a specific body ideal to conform to societal expectations.
